Sean Weissman

Tuner | Technician

Sean, son of Kurt and Vice President of Grand Purpose Piano, grew up immersed in pianos.

At the age of 10 Kurt began to introduce piano tuning to Sean. The skills that he acquired throughout his younger years gave him much opportunity in the music industry throughout college. Sean’s first job, showroom piano tuner of Steinway dealer Dollarhide’s Music Center, was a pivotal moment in his life, leading him to realize that piano tuning was his passion.

Shortly after moving back to New Jersey, Sean began his work as a professional piano tuner for a Yamaha and Steinway dealer in Philadephia. Here, he significantly refined his skills even further in repair, refinishing, humidity control installation, concert tuning, and some rebuilding.

“One of my favorite aspects of the job was being able to tune for famous musicians. Being able to tune for John Legend, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Sarah McLachlan, and Paul Anka to name a few were pinnacle moments in my career. Being born and raised in New Jersey I count it an honor to be able to serve the Tri-state area at Grand Purpose Piano. I can’t wait to meet you and your family and hope to become a regular staple in your home as your favorite piano technician.”
